Campus MLK Faculty

Campus MLK is a collaborative project. Our current “faculty” includes five organizations, partnering to invest and engage with Tacoma’s Hilltop youth.

The DASH Center provides quality performing arts instruction, education and mentoring to the underserved communities and lower income families of Tacoma-Pierce County, offering programs to directly counteract gang and drug influences and empower inner city youth through honesty, positivity, and creativity.

Fab-5 is a nonprofit initiative cultivating community through urban arts education.

Although Fab-5 work is centered on creating art, our main outcomes are cultivating communities where youth from diverse backgrounds can gather, collaborate, learn and share ideas.

The FABITAT Expressive Art Center is located at 1316 South Martin Luther King Ave, Tacoma WA 98405; Student/Community hours Tue-Fri 4pm-10pm

The Warehouse is a Tacoma based production company committed to bringing high-quality music experiences to various locations around the city.

The team at The Warehouse brings good music to Tacoma as well as showcases the new and established talent in our fair city. Warehouse shows feature these artists through DIY pop-up events in various venues, often in unexpected and underused spaces.

The Warehouse works to create a community that stands by and supports touring artists as well as local musicians. This community happens through the shows we produce, meals we prepare, and the homes we offer up to traveling bands.

Write@253 is a Tacoma-area writing and mentoring center operating with the mission to inspire the writer who lives in everyone, by nurturing creativity and celebrating the tremendous talents of our community. Currently, Write@253 works within the Tacoma Public Schools and runs a center on Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Post Defiance is an online magazine written for Tacoma, about Tacoma and by Tacomans. Rather than racing to write daily reports on the latest big local event, Post Defiance provides distinctive, high-quality, thoughtful content generated by talented local artists and writers of all ages.

This publication is a cooperative effort, focused on partnerships with individuals, organizations and businesses who love, promote, and produce the culture, craft and community that distinguish Tacoma.
